The rapid growth in FTTH is creating significant demand for technical staff trained in FTTH technology and installation techniques. As Uganda prepares for massive roll out fiber to the home or X Many service providers will be struggling to find sufficiently trained staff. In response to this need, the Fiber Technologies Uganda Limited has embarked on a training and certification program in cooperation with FiberDK (a Fiber Optics Association) certified professional training school, plus other organizations such as Electronics technicians Association - Uganda and Electronics Technicians Association - International (USA), educational institutions and other third party training programs offered by major vendors and service providers.

The Fiber to the Home Professional program is operated by the FiberDK (a member of Fiber-to-the-Home(FTTH) Council. Certification indicates a professional level of technical competence in fiber to the home technologies. Certification consists of demonstrating knowledge and familiarity with FTTH architecture, network design, deployment technology and operational skills. Certification is not directed at specific vendor�s equipment, rather to certify professional competence on a broad base of FTTH topics.
The FTTH Training Course is structured to certify competence in overall FTTH theory, terminology, topology, equipment and system cost estimation. FTTH Training Courses cover a broad range of FTTH knowledge that FTTH professionals must be familiar with.
